SOLAS: Lifeboat safety Update

imoIMO Circular MSC.1/Circ.1392 – SOLAS Regulation III/1.5 requires that for all ships, on-load release mechanisms not complying with paragraphs 4.4.7.6.4 to 4.4.7.6.6 of the Life Saving Appliances (LSA) Code must be replaced or modified not later than the next scheduled dry-docking after 1 July 2014, but not later than 1 July 2019.

Updated War Risks Clauses out now

BIMCO-logoThe 2013 editions of CONWARTIME and VOYWAR have been published and are available to download free of charge from the BIMCO website along with explanatory notes. BIMCO recommends that if you are using charter parties containing the 1993 or 2004 editions of CONWARTIME or VOYWAR, you replace these clauses with the new 2013 edition.

Outcome of IMO MSC 92, June 12-21, 2013

imoThe IMO Secretary General, Mr Koji Sekimizu, stated in his closing remarks at the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC), 92nd session, held from June 12 to 21, 2013, that "The Costa Concordia safety review has been the most important safety issue at this session. The Committee has taken firm actions to set a clear direction towards a safety review over critical areas such as stability and survivability.
